The Ring 
The aughts weren’t exactly the greatest time for the horror genre, but The Ring has to be up there with the best scares of the decade. Its plot was a cultural phenomenon for a whole Halloween season: Watch a cursed videotape featuring a demon girl, said demon girl jumps out of the screen shortly thereafter. Side note: Had to do a double-take at Brian Cox on the cast list. Maybe the entirety of The Ring was really just a sick game of Boar on the Floor.

Who needs Pennywise, when you have Jojo the Klownzilla, the monster space clown? If you truly, truly need a getaway movie, Killer Klowns from Outer Space might be one of your best options on Netflix. Best not to know too much about this one going into it, but rest assured, it’s one big mess of living balloon animals, popcorn-shooting guns, and blood-drinking extraterrestrial clowns.
